Every visual geometric figure can be used to convey meaning, whether it's a letter, a word, a drawing, a formula, a photograph, etc. This is the subject of semiotics, the study of signs and their meaningful communication. Every mark made on a sheet of paper, whether it be a point or an entire page filled solidly, may be used to represent something to someone. This includes every page that makes sense or no sense at all.

LETTERS, WORDS, and TEXT.
